Behavior of Mexican Adolescents during Their First Coitus under the Interaction Sexual Theory

It has been investigated about the individual characteristics of adolescents during the first intercourse; however their sexual behavior is not only influenced by the personal features but by many other external factors like partner, environment and community that lead adolescents into risky sexual choices. This paper research the influence of those factors in the adolescent’s sexual behavior of the first coitus using as theoretical framework the Sexual Interaction Theory (SIT). It was used a survey of 3097 Mexican adolescents of both sexes aged 13-19. The main conclusions are that sexual knowledge is a necessary condition but not sufficient to achieve the condom use between the adolescents, that “machismo” plays a crucial role in the safe sex and that the less difference in age between the couple the more probability of condom use.
